Once installed you only miss one thing : the subway pass called the Imagine R card. It allows you to use all parisian transports (bus, tramway, RER, subway) without limitation and with a reduced price for students.

You don't feel taking the subway with two

20kg luggages ? You have been out so late the subway is closed ?

We advise you to download Heetch or Uber.

First one works from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. and is cheaper:

If you’re not an EU citizen, it’s more convenient to open an account with a French bank !

The three main French banks are LCL, BNP and BRED – we prefer BRED. Last year, the DEE established a partnership with BRED that provides that Erasmus students with many advantages :

The offer:
• 70 € to students opening an active account
• 20 € for opening a savings account
• A free GOLD or Premier card and free checkbook
• Free overdraft
• A home insurance at 1 €
• A very reactive agency that also functions online for all your administrative procedures so you can now open your bank account remotely!

To open an account, you will need:

  • A valid ID card

  • Your student card or a school certificate of the University

  • A proof of your address in France (an electric bill, etc.)

  • And for the home insurance you will need your rental agreement

If you are interested, contact us by sending a facebook message or an e-mail at the adress camille.daussy@gmail.com, and we will give you the list of the required documents and our client advisor e-mail adress.

Tips for renters

  • Most French private owners, be they individuals or institutions, require renters to provide them with a guarantor (a French resident with French income) who will act as irrevocable personal representant for the entire amount of the rent and other charges due to the owners by the student.

  • Renters must take out a multi-risk home insurance policy (fire, water damage …) valid from day one of the lease and throughout the duration thereof. Student health insurance organizations (mutuelles) offer home insurance and some insurance companies and banks also offer home insurance policies specifically tailored to student needs.

  • Most private owners request a security deposit to cover eventual damages to the rental property or small sums remaining due to the owner. The security deposit for both furnished and unfurnished rental properties is limited by law to one month's rent exclusive of ancillary charges. If the renter provides a Locapass advance, the security deposit is not required.

  • Renters should make sure they understand which charges are included in the rent and what charges are his/her responsibility in addition to rent.
